Derma Science’s Vitamin C, E & Ferulic Acid Serum is designed for maximum skin absorption and efficacy. Research has proven that the serum is most effective when the following are met:
- > 10 % L-Ascorbic Acid
- Water based
- PH < 3.5
Vitamin C in the form of L-Ascorbic Acid is proven to stimulate the synthesis of collagen, making your skin appear more youthful, vibrant and alive. Its antioxidant properties can also improve skin damage caused by the sun, as well as helping your skin’s rate of exfoliation for a brighter, smoother complexion and evening out skin tone, while diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
High-concentration Vitamin C antioxidant is designed for optimum absorption on skin and proven in published, scientific journals to help prevent free radical damage associated with atmospheric skin aging. Derma Science’ Vitamin C Serum has a PH of 2.5% for maximum efficacy and absorption into the skin. L-Ascorbic acid requires a PH of 3.5 and below to penetrate the skin.
For a topical vitamin C formulation to work, it must first penetrate skin and then remain stable and be available in high enough concentrations to have a biologic effect. Research to date indicates that the gold standard is stable L-ascorbic acid at high concentration (more than 10%) and low pH (<3.5).

Derma Science’ Vitamin C Serum packaging is designed to prolong the life of your product. Vitamin C remains vulnerable and unstable by nature and will break down if routinely exposed to air (oxidation) and light giving it a short storage life. The dark amber bottle limits light exposure to the product.
The optimal product life can further be increased by refrigeration and within a dark jacket or in the products box. The product must be stored away from direct sunlight and air exposure must remain at a minimum.
This means if you want to get the best possible results from your antioxidant-enriched skincare products, so the ingredients remain stable after you start using the product
